Will antivirus and firewall protect me from
my computer from spywear?
Reply
from Devilin
A decent firewall will protect
you from spywear, as it can deny the spywear access to the intent
thereby nullifying it, but antivirus software will not perceive
spywear as a threat, because you've invited the spywear onto your
computer, the latest vision of intent explore 6, can automatically
stop spying cookies, when you set your own privacy levels in its
control panel, any other type of spywear, is usually downloaded
hidden in a program, with its own privacy policy agreement, and
hidden away in this agreement, usually 100 lines down in technical
mumbo jumbo, you find you've signed all of your rights to privacy
away, therefore legally you've asked for it, and it can not be considered
a virus, although it may be very similar in its design and purpose

Help I can't access the net because
I'm behind a firewall and don't know how to get rid of it;to access
the net I have to go through my computer.

You could try the add remove option
to uninstall it, but install another one immediately, if you give
me the name off the firewall itself I may be able to offer further
assistance
Questions

I can't use my screen name SnoBoJoe
because of a stupid firewall how the heck do i get rid of it?
Reply

A. firewall shouldn't stop you
from using a tag / screen name , look at the other programs running
on your system, as a firewall will not prevent you typing whatever
you want, it simply restricts programs accessing the Internet,

i can't play games on the school
computers, how do i get the fire wall off
Reply
from Devilin
Its not the firewall preventing
you from playing games, but if you spent more time learning about
computers, you'd understand there systems and, how to work your
way around them, educated yourself, and you make the decisions,
remain un--educated and others will make the decisions for you,
and no I'm not going to teach you how to bypass the school
security system, your level of understanding would probably be to
low, to understand the basics theory, let alone the practical application,
come back when you've done lots and lots of boring reading, and
you can speak computer jargon on my terms, hash, back slash,
out
Questions
from Molly & Reg
i have norton anti virus (its cool)
I'm still getting the grey pop ups and have been told I need a fire
wall. Is this correct and do I need it instead of Norton or as well
as and will there be a comptability problem. Hope you can help.
Desperate.
Reply
from Devilin
Yes Molly & Reg you do need
a firewall, as well as anti virus, its absolutely essential to have
a firewall, there shouldn't be any compatibility problems,
Norton anti virus, failed my tests, and subsequently
will not be listed on this site, but its probably adequate for your
purposes,
Questions from Uncle Lou Sieffer
Have you tried the pay version of Grisoft's firewall(combined w2/their AVG), is it as good as ZA or Sygate. I will look under FIREWALL for answer, Thanks UL
Reply from Devilin
AVG + Kerio firewall / AVG + their own firewall
There own firewall is basic.it's just a port blocker.affective but limited. I wouldn't recommend this unless you're an expert in processes running applications and which are good or bad
Zone alarm I just don't rate.a mixture of aggressive advertising.and some serious security flaws in their free version.put me off.and I haven't touched it since. Sygate vs Kerio Kerio is the more secure firewall. but it's more complicated.and I believe it's a tad overly security conscious .there free version runs as the full version for a limited time period. so you can try it yourself.and see how you get on. if I was totally paranoid it's the one I'd use.
AVG pro pay for version.runs from the same basic engine.but it updates itself far more frequently and quietly.and has some more user friendly functions definitely worth the money if you can afford it
Tell me what you decide. |
