from keith how to remove back up lite
This works: your spy ware catches back up lite. To remove without issues of any kind, allow the spyware like bot to keep it. Then go to windows explorer and find HP updates and right click it and delete (I use BC Wipe), then remove Back up lite icon with right click. Restart-run spybot and presto, its gone. Not complicated and it is fool proof. Pass it on.

Thanks Keith.I don't have access to HP's version of Backweb so I can't confirm this information. could somebody else please confirm this.I have checked BC Wipe which is an excellent freeware product. made by Jetico, Inc.they have many excellent Freeware security related products.especially their firewall.but they may be to advanced for most users

There are plenty of
ways of finding out whether blackweb is on your system, probably
the easiest is to use Spysweeper as its can
identify files without you having to destroy them, just make
sure all of the boxes remain un ticked,
|
Affiliate link / unfortunately the free
anti-spyware programs won't deal with backweb, this link will
take you to webroot spysweepers page, where you can download
a free fully working trial, which should deal with backweb
Always try uninstalling the backweb program
itself first
My computer
/ add remove / click on backweb, then click remove,
If anybody knows of any free anti-spyware programs that deal
with backweb please inform me, as spybot and adaware and such,
don't deal with it, I've contacted the nice people at spybot,
there currently reviewing backweb ,

Sptbot used by itself will not remove all of
the back web elements for full details see
I'd also suggest using a good firewall, which will determine which
programs have access to the net, and what part of the web has access
to your computer

I use Spyhunter antispam software which tells
me I have backweb lite showing 122 times in various formats as spam
on my computer. Also: 1. When I start up I get an "invalid
backweb application id 7288971" message - I just close this
down. 2. "Micorsoft" often opens up when I'm browsing.
3. I get random Proclaim Telecom Inc message pop ups, followed immediately
by a "hot adult download" pop up - not ideal with two
young teenage kids. I've looked via google advanced at how to get
rid of this stuff but it's either too complicated or leaves me unsure
of what action to take - I'd be nervous of making registry changes
without backup. I have Pccillin antivirus/firewall software and
this uses backweb in some form of other, so worried about removing
the wrong thing. My PC is prone to random close down. Can anyone
help or is my computer due a complete clean out via reinstallation
of windows (I'm on Windows Me)?

from Devilin
Windows Me, is prone to random,
shut downs, because its not the most stable operating system
using, spywareblaster, should
sort out your popup windows problem, and it's freeware / donationware
Now using Pc-cillin, in my experience can lead
to random and unexpected errors in itself, the program itself does
tie up significant resources, and it can become over enthusiastic
to say the least, you can be assured your virus free though, it
is a good virus killer
Unfortunately you have a combination, that doesn't
suit, ME, not exactly stable, PC-cillin, heavy on resources, and
the same can be said for backweb, the easiest solution is to change
your anti virus program, and clean backweb of your system,

I deleted Backweb files on my computer.
Now, I get erroe messages when I start the computer. Is there some
place I can download or reinstall Backweb?
Reply
from Devilin
You could possibly try here, but
what version, i.e. what program installed backward, you'll have
to determine yourself
The error message can be stopped, by stopping
the backweb fragment from starting with windows
Use caution, and only disable,
not delete programs from starting

FYI - My father recently purchased
a Media Center PC from HP. It came with Backweb Lite installed.
Yesterday I went about removing backweb from his system. After removal,
it warned me about a backweb application having problems. Come to
find out, HP has a program called HP Update (or soemthing to that
effect) that runs on bootup that uses Backweb Lite. The HP Update
program no longer boots up and no more backweb either. Why would
HP stoop to such practices?

Probably seemed like a good idea
at the time ?, although there still shipping computers with backweb
installed, why don't you contact them, and ask, and tell me how
you get on, I'd love to see their reply

hello. perhaps you can help me.
i have had spybot for several months now and it has worked well.
each time i did a scan, i noticed about 80 backweb lite files. as
your other readers indicated, spybot never checked the boxes, and
i always left them unchecked. i oftentimes receive unsolicited messages
and ads from HP, so i decided to check the backweb boxes when i
did my search and destroy this morning. immediately after "fixing
problems" i started receiveing this message: Could not load
the target dll (C:\Program Files\Backweb Client\6.2.3 66\Program\frcom.dll,
error code 126). i went back into spybot and recovered all of the
backweb lite files, but i continue to receive this message every
5 minutes or so. how can i fix this?

Spybot has an undue option, sounds
like you've killed a flash component, flash and Backweb aren't related
in any way whatsoever, you could happily uninstall Backweb all day
and this shouldn't affect flash itself in anyway whatsoever, so
it leads me to believe, you may have installed a flash plug in,
which Spybot might consider spyware, and you've then deleted the
plug in, affecting the flash main program, possible solution, re
install flash, link below, as for why this would affect your ability
to install video games, I'm uncertain, so I'll refer you to the
capable hands of the Spybot form, you're get a much faster response
to your question, from them
