Anti-virus-Failed

The product itself does a pre to install virus scan, which is an excellent idea, it pre checks email's before there downloaded wonderful, it checks for almost everything, including viruses, worms, Trojans spyware, software jokes, etc. etc. etc. marvels, and its incredibly easy to use everything is automatically set up for you, big buttons, I like big buttons, its even got a large help button

The bad points

The product itself does a pre to install virus scan, and missed all 40 of the nasty viruses worms, Trojans, and other assorted nasty stuff, this doesn't cover the large amount of spyware keylogger's ect. I have deposited about my hard drive ( I collect them, everybody's got a hobby J ), it also missed a virus I placed on my desktop, that I received only the previous day

Free online assistance, is not available for helping you deal with viruses , but you can call one of their experts for help, at $4.95 per minute, Yes that's per minute, instant fail ( my apologies to the young lady, I directed towards their help section, I didn't check it myself at the time,)

On a full scan it located 20 out of the 40 nasty viruses worms, Trojans, and other assorted nasty stuff, I have deposited about my hard drive, there's a lot more, as I test spyware, and I've got loads of the stuff lying around the 40, I consider a serious threat, real nasty stuff / instant fail / it would be unrealistic to expect any anti virus software to detect every single piece of nasty stuff I've got on my hard drive, as some of it is zipped, double even triple zipped but I expect at least 90% detection rate, if your paying hard errant money for a virus protection

I could easily continue, But there's no real point, I still do like and admire this company, but with this product I believe they have some issues to sort out, especially the help issue, while reviewing help forums, I noticed an awful lot of Norton anti virus questions, this just shouldn't be, not for a commercial product

The good points

I couldn't praise this software enough, its wonderful,and I'll probably end up using it myself, it past and surpassed every test I gave it, the program itself can be infinitely tailored to suit and individuals needs, I admire the build quality, but the little touches really make it shine, a voice actually tells you "you have a virus" delightful, another voice tells you "virus definition updated" and this doesn't distract from the program itself, which is superb in every way

The bad points

The program itself can be infinitely tailored to suit and individuals needs, which is wonderful for anyone like myself, but this will be daunting for the average user, a nightmare for the novice user, most of the people I work with, I consider the average type of Internet user, when I chat to them about getting anti virus software, there's only ever one response, "I won't have to do anything myself will I ? I just install it then I'm protected right ?" they only want 2 buttons scan, and update, some don't even want this level of complexity J just something in the background to protect them,

Unstable, often causing system lock, or crashes, especially on slower computers

Excellent anti virus program, easy to use, very user friendly

Although its a competent program, its not quite good enough to make it to my main page, detection rate being the main course for failure
